My family history consists primarily of the following surnames (SOUNDEX code in parenthesis): Don't know what a SOUNDEX code is? Rather than reiterate many good explanations, click on this link to access an excellent explanation from www.ancestry.com!

Here's a page with a chart of soundex codes for the names in my family history: Soundex Chart Page

Sometimes knowing your ethnic background helps in determining locations where your ancestors may have resided. This page contains a pie chart showing my background.

Family History Files:

Ged4web (website - may not always load!): This is probably the simplest set of files here. It includes:

Family Pages (with a list of surnames and a list sorted by first name);
Pedigree Pages (with a list of surnames);
Notes Pages (also with a list of surnames); and
Descendancy Pages

GenHTree (website): This program has more "bells and whistles!" It also has:

Surname Index which lists all the surnames of a particular letter of the alphabet on a separate page and provides their first names along with their birth dates and a link to each individual's pedigree chart.
List of Surnames - shows all the surnames in the files and how many there are.
Frequent Surnames - a listing by frequency showing the number of times a surname appears in the files.
USA Time/Density Map - this is one of the "bells and whistles" features showing, for each state, the earliest birth date and the density (high, medium, or low) of the number of individuals born in this state.
Europe Time/Density Map - this is another one of the "bells and whistles" features showing, for each European country, the earliest birth date and the density (high, medium, or low) of the number of individuals born in this country.

NOTE: On some computers, the maps associated with the above two items may not display correctly; however, the data is correctly displayed!

Name/Age Stats - shows:

Average Male Marriage Age
Average Female Marriage Age
Average Male Adult Lifespan
Average Female Adult Lifespan
Most Frequent Male First Names
Most Frequent Male Middle Names
Most Frequent Female First Names
Most Frequent Female Middle Names

NOTE: Clicking on any of the above program names' website link will open a new browser window displaying that program's web site where you can find more information about the program.
